Ambulance in action: Two workers fell into the depths on a construction site in Hamburg (symbolic image)

There was a serious accident in the Wilhelmsburg district of Hamburg on Friday morning. Two workers fell into a light shaft on a construction site. One died from his injuries, the other was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
As the fire department announced upon request, the accident occurred as a result of a mistake at work. One of the men then fell to the bottom of the 15 meter deep shaft. The emergency doctors who were called tried to resuscitate the man, but were unable to save him.
The other worker, a 36-year-old man, reportedly landed on scaffolding after falling around eight meters. He survived with serious injuries and was taken to a clinic.
The fire department was on site with around 40 emergency services.
