Time is running out in Gaza, where the vast majority of the 2.4 million inhabitants are threatened by famine, according to the UN.

There was talk, just a few weeks ago, of a truce during Ramadan. But the Israeli Prime Minister, remaining inflexible, continues his military offensive. Increasingly numerous criticisms from Western allies are not slowing down Benjamin Netanyahu's desire to attack the city of Rafah. Despite international pressure, the leader says an offensive is necessary to militarily "defeat" Hamas in Gaza and avoid another October 7.

The main American ally, which recognizes Israel's right to defend itself, is dropping food aid at the same time as it continues to deliver ammunition to the Israeli army. But for the first time, the United States presented a resolution to the UN calling for an "immediate ceasefire linked to the release of the hostages." At the same time, Antony Blinken, the head of American diplomacy, began a series of meetings in Saudi Arabia, Egypt then Israel for a fourth visit to the region in search of a truce.
