On the 20th, a Korean-flagged chemical tanker with 11 people on board capsized off the coast of Mutsuren Island in Shimonoseki City, Yamaguchi Prefecture. Eight of the nine rescued people were confirmed dead, and the Japan Coast Guard confirmed that The search for the remaining two continues.

According to the Moji Coast Guard Department in Kitakyushu City, shortly after 7 a.m. on the 20th, a rescue attempt was made from the South Korean-registered chemical tanker ``KEOYOUNG SUN'' off the north-northwest coast of Mutsurejima Island in Shimonoseki City, Yamaguchi Prefecture, saying that ``the ship was tilting.'' A call was made requesting that the ship capsize.



There were 11 people on board the tanker, including 8 Indonesians, 2 Koreans, and 1 Chinese, and 9 people have been rescued near the scene so far, according to the Japan Coast Guard. Eight of them were confirmed dead.



The other person's injuries are not life-threatening.



The Japan Coast Guard is continuing to search for the two remaining crew members on patrol boats and other vehicles.



According to the Japan Coast Guard, the tanker left Himeji Port in Hyogo Prefecture on March 18th and was on its way to Ulsan, South Korea, due to bad weather. It is said that the ship had lowered its anchor and was moored in the sea near the site.



It was carrying 980 tons of acrylic acid, but no leakage has been confirmed so far.
