The displaced people in the city of Khan Yunis (southern Gaza Strip) are trying to break the tragic reality imposed by the war during the month of Ramadan by organizing sessions of praise and supplications.

Al Jazeera reported part of the attempts of the displaced to overcome the ordeal by organizing a circle that included women, children, and men sitting by the lights of flashlights to chant prophetic praises and folkloric Ramadan songs, to create a Ramadan atmosphere in the midst of war.

One of the displaced people - who works in the Ibtihalat group - said that they were welcoming the holy month with decorations and lights, noting that Ramadan was sad this year.

He added that they used to hold parties throughout the month during the past years, unlike what they are doing now, adding that "there are things that we have become accustomed to, and we try to do despite sadness and pressure in order to entertain themselves."

One of the displaced women said that Tarawih prayers and these simple parties took away some of their lives, while another said that they are trying to alleviate the burden of reality, because they love life.
