It is said that filming was extremely hard for Sylvester Stallone.

The US actor is said to suffer from extreme fear of heights.

“Cliffhanger” was about mountain rescuers, helicopter flights and tightrope walking in the air.

And in the middle of it all, Stallone's character Gabe Walker.

31 years after the film's premiere in Cannes, the now 77-year-old is set to get back on the ropes - for a sequel.

This was announced by Birgit Oberkofler, chairwoman of the IDM Südtirol film funding commission, as reported by the “Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung” (“FAZ”).

Filming will take place at locations in the South Tyrolean Alps, as was the case for the first part of the action film, whose script Stallone was involved in.

Back then, the Dolomites near Cortina d'Ampezzo were passed off as Rocky Mountains, but now they are supposed to officially become the backdrop.

IDM will support the project with 400,000 euros.

Where the first part ended – on the Pisciadu via ferrata in the Sella Group near Val Gardena – “Cliffhanger 2” will continue.

According to »FAZ« the director will be Jean-François Richet (Public Enemy, Plane), and the script will be written by Mark Bianculli (The Good Neighbor).

The German-British co-production will be produced by Black Magic Films (London) in collaboration with Supernix (Munich) and Original Films (USA).

“Golden Raspberry” for “The Expendables 4”

The production of “Cliffhanger – Only the Strong Survive” is said to have cost around $65 million and grossed $255 million.

The spectacular stunt, in which stuntman Simon Crane shuttles between two aircraft, went into the Guinness Book of Records as the most expensive stunt to date.

Sylvester Stallone recently received a rather unpopular award, the recipients of which are traditionally announced the day before the Oscars: the ridiculous “Golden Raspberry” prize.

Stallone won a Golden Raspberry Award for Worst Supporting Actor for the action film “The Expendables 4,” about a mercenary group in Libya.

Oscar winner Jon Voight (“Mercy”) and Megan Fox (“Johnny & Clyde” and “The Expendables 4”) were also honored.

The big winner was “Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey” with five shameful awards, including in the top category as worst film, for direction and screenplay.
