He did not specify the cause of his death, which remains under investigation.

On Instagram, singer Pascal Obispo paid tribute on Saturday to the musician, with whom he collaborated on several occasions.

My dear Frank, my friend

”, reacted, also on Instagram, the singer Étienne Daho, close to Frank Darcel.

“

Thousands of memories flood in and words cannot come to me to express this emptiness.

Thank you for being in my life and changing it forever.

Born in Côtes-d'Armor in 1958, this son of a doctor founded the rock group Marquis de Sade, in which he was soon joined by singer Philippe Pascal.

The group had been the spearhead of the rock scene in Rennes, at the turn of the 1970s and 1980s. Never too much on the same wavelength as his enemy brother, Philippe Pascal, the guitarist had defined the sound of the new group wave, notably contemporary with Joy Division.

Marquis de Sade reformed

in 2018 and returned to the stage.

Since the sudden death of Philippe Pascal, the group had continued under the name Marquis.

Frank Darcel has also worked with many French musicians, including Alan Stivell.

He also became known for his novels, his writings on rock in Brittany, and his convictions in favor of Breton autonomy.
