Blueberries are also called blueberries and are sometimes larger, sometimes smaller, often about the size of a dime.

Normally.

A team in Australia has now bred a blueberry that is many times larger and weighs about as much as a sugar cube.

Guinness World Records has now recognized the berry as the heaviest blueberry in the world.

It weighs 20.4 grams and has a diameter of 39.31 millimeters, which is similar to the size of a table tennis ball.

This example beats the previous record berry by 4.2 grams.

A few days before the harvest, Brad Hocking, one of the growers, noticed that the size of the berry was "developing really well," according to a statement from the Guinness World Records company.

It wasn't until the morning of harvest day that he realized that it was "something very special."

This breeding therefore took a total of around twelve months to mature.

The berry belongs to the “Eterna” variety, one of the newest varieties from the berry farm in New South Wales in Australia.

The excellent giant berry is not unique: "When we picked this one, there were probably about 20 other berries of similar size," said Hocking.

It was picked in November last year and then stored frozen.

But doesn't the size lose some of the flavor?

According to Hocking, this is not the case: "Although the fruits are large, there are no compromises in quality or taste, as you would expect with a premium blueberry variety." The berries are also known for their crisp texture and long shelf life known.

The company behind Hocking says it develops one or two new, commercially viable blueberry varieties every year.

This is also a reaction to climate change - because the experts tried to breed the varieties so that they could grow better under extreme conditions such as heat and were less affected by pests.
