Palestinian writer and filmmaker Walaa Saadeh was martyred in an Israeli occupation bombing that targeted displaced people in the city of Deir al-Balah (central Gaza Strip), fulfilling dreams she was seeking to achieve and ending stories that had not yet been completed.

Martyr Walaa, a filmmaker, director, writer and blogger, was born in Beit Hanoun in the northern Gaza Strip. She was displaced with many others in search of safety. She was passionate about cinema and participated in directing many films that contributed to conveying the suffering of the people of the besieged Gaza Strip to the world, by telling the stories of Palestinian women.

Walaa’s films participated in a number of film festivals in Palestine and abroad, and her films include “Threads of Silk” and “This is a Life for Me.”

On March 2, Walaa was martyred in an occupation bombing that targeted displaced people in Deir al-Balah. She had many stories that she wanted to tell in her films, but the occupation did not give her permission.

Walaa is one of the 31,490 martyrs of the war on the Gaza Strip, on the 161st day of the war on Gaza, which falls on the fifth day of the holy month of Ramadan.
