The Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare has officially decided to raise the co-payment amount for routine vaccinations to a maximum of approximately 7,000 yen regarding the new coronavirus vaccination, which will require a partial co-payment from next year.

The new coronavirus vaccine will be available for free until March, with the entire amount covered by public funds, but from April onwards, it will be a ``regular vaccination'' that will require you to pay a portion of the vaccination cost yourself, similar to the seasonal influenza vaccine. It is done.

For routine vaccinations, a portion of the cost is subsidized by the government's allocated tax, and the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare had previously indicated that the out-of-pocket cost would be around 7,000 yen at most, but the price of the vaccine is three times higher than expected. I realized that it would be more expensive than that, so I was considering how to deal with it.

Regarding this, the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare has decided that the government will provide additional subsidies for the difference in the amount, which is higher than expected.

As a result, it has been officially decided that from next year, the maximum co-payment for those eligible for regular vaccinations will be approximately 7,000 yen.

It may be even cheaper if your local government has its own subsidy.

On the other hand, those eligible for routine vaccination are the elderly aged 65 and over and those aged 60 to 64 who are at high risk of becoming seriously ill.For others, the vaccination is ``voluntary'', so the out-of-pocket cost is 7,000 yen. It is expected to exceed this.

The Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare said, ``In order to alleviate the rapid increase in co-payments, the national government has decided to provide additional assistance. We will continue to educate people about routine vaccinations.''
