Most countries in the world face major challenges, which have a significant impact on the standard of living of citizens, and on the list of these challenges is the crisis of rising prices, which is exacerbated for several reasons, including: the Russian-Ukrainian war, the growing tensions between the United States and China, and the negative repercussions of the Corona virus infection, which has extended for three years. For years, it severely damaged supply chains and product supply operations, and created a large deficit in some sectors, such as: exporting wheat, paper products, and electronic chips, which resulted in a significant rise in the prices of many basic goods and products.

All of this poses a major threat to the economy around the world, as shown by the Global Risks Report 2024, issued by the World Economic Forum in Davos, which is held every year to discuss urgent issues in the world.

The risk report concluded that the global economy will suffer severely in the next two years.

Young dreams

The impact of the economic crisis will be more severe on young people, as it prevents them from achieving their dreams, and makes them prey to frustration and depression, which weakens the entity of nations.

Because active, young energy is its striking force.

So their issues we should pay special attention to.

The increasing and continuing phenomenon of rising prices weakens these hopes.

Because it makes it difficult to obtain even the most basic needs;

There is no time that passes when we think that the economic crises and high prices have passed irreversibly, and the world begins to regain its normal breathing, until other crises come that undermine this belief, so that another period of suffering begins, and the hope for soon hope.

Regardless of the reasons for the rise in prices, especially the so-called high cost of living, whether they are due to political reasons as we have been accustomed to for a long time, or due to a shortage of resources such as the decline of rains in countries whose economy depends on agricultural resources, like most of our Arab countries, or the decline in oil prices in countries where Their economies depend heavily on oil revenues. What concerns us in this is the high prices in any case, and the effects it has on societies in terms of social aspects, individual relationships, and the course of life in general.

Over time, the costs of housing, food, transportation, education, and health care rise dramatically, making it difficult for young people to afford these expenses.

As a result, many young people find it difficult to achieve their personal and professional goals, which can have negative psychological and social effects.

However, the cost of living crisis is not the only one looming around the world.

There is a crisis that carries significant long-term consequences, which is the climate change crisis, which is one of the biggest challenges that poses a real threat to humanity and the environment.

Disaster looms

Climate change refers to an increase in temperatures on the Earth's surface;

Due to human activities represented by the combustion of fossil fuels such as oil, coal and natural gas, which is one of the largest sources of carbon dioxide emissions, and the cultivation of land and its modification to create cities and industrial areas, which leads to the gradual erasure of natural vegetation and trees, reducing their ability to absorb carbon dioxide. Carbon and its storage.

In addition to air and water pollution due to polluting industrial and household emissions, which affects the health of plants and animals, and thus leads to climate change.

This has many fundamental consequences, such as: a rise in global temperature, which affects large areas of the Earth and increases the possibility of drought, a decrease in the amount of available water, and a rise in sea levels, as the melting of ice in the polar regions and mountain highlands causes a rise in sea levels. This threatens densely populated coastal areas and vital infrastructure, as well as the increased frequency of natural disasters such as hurricanes, floods and droughts, causing loss of life and mass destruction of communities.

These events threaten the environment and natural resources, significantly impact agriculture, food security and economies in affected areas, and threaten many marine species that are sensitive to these changes.

To preserve the environment and ensure the sustainability of life on planet Earth, countries and the international community must work together and take effective and tangible measures that limit the effects of climate change and enhance environmental sustainability.

These measures could include encouraging the protection of forests and green spaces;

To maintain the environmental balance of the Earth, promote the recycling of resources and reduce plastic waste, and encourage the use of renewable energy sources, such as: solar energy and wind energy, instead of relying on fossil fuels.

These chronic problems that afflict young people, and which represent an obstacle in the path to achieving their dreams, remain dependent on the global conscience and the combined efforts of everyone to solve them. There is no single country or nation alone that can provide a radical solution to all the disasters that await us if we do not pay attention, be aware, and warn before... it's too late.
