It has been learned that a funeral home in Koshigaya City, Saitama Prefecture, had mistaken the body of a man for that of another woman, held a funeral, and then cremated the body.

The operating company has apologized to each family.

The company that made the mistake of mixing up the bodies was Tear, a company headquartered in Nagoya that operates funeral services in 12 prefectures across the country.

According to the company, on March 9th, a funeral service was held at a funeral home in Koshigaya City run by this company, where the body of a man was mistaken for that of another woman, and the body was cremated.

After the cremation, the man's family checked the belongings left behind and discovered that there had been a mix-up.

According to the company, there was a mix-up when the body was being transported from the place where it had been kept for the funeral.

Although the coffins had name tags placed on them, the company apologized to each of the bereaved families, as the person in charge failed to check and removed them by mistake.

Regarding this incident, ``Tear'' commented, ``This occurred due to human error and lack of confirmation. We take this situation seriously and will do our best to prevent it from happening again.''
