He began his music career in 1983 with The Waterboys.

Karl Wallinger recorded a total of three albums on various instruments with the folk pop band.

He was also involved in “The Whole of the Moon,” the Waterboys’ biggest hit.

In 1985, the musician, born Karl Edmond de Vere Wallinger in Prestatyn, Wales, founded his own band, World Party, in which he processed folk, blues and soul influences into opulent, danceable pop songs.

The band's best-known songs include "Is It Like Today" and "Ship of Fools", which are still played on the radio.

After World Party ended, Wallinger worked primarily as a songwriter and studio musician for other artists.

Among others, he worked for Sinéad O'Connor and Bob Geldof.

Robbie Williams made his song "She's The One" a hit in 1999.

As the British "Guardian" reports, among others, Wallinger died on Sunday at the age of 66.
