TV RTVE finalizes the signing of David Broncano and his Resistencia to compete against El Hormiguero
Almost two hours of
RTVE's Extraordinary Council
dedicated exclusively to the signing and contract of
David Broncano

The contract was practically closed in the absence of approval from the Board of Directors.
On Friday, the public entity called an Extraordinary Council of the directors for this Monday, since the agreement had to come out no matter what.
And, although it seemed that the management had assured approval of the signing, this Monday's meeting ended unexpectedly:
by five votes against and four in favor,
the signing of
Broncano
and
La Resistencia
was delayed to the Ordinary Council in an attempt to improve what was agreed with
El Terrat
, producer of the program that is currently broadcast on Movistar Plus+.

As this newspaper has learned, the negative votes cast were from
Elena Sánchez
, acting president of RTVE, one from
Podemos
and the
three from the PP.
Sources close to the agreement assure this newspaper that Elena Sánchez announced at the beginning of the meeting that she would abstain from the current proposal.
If
Roberto Lakidain
, counselor of Podemos, and those of the PP had voted against, there was no quorum and they chose to postpone the decision to the next Ordinary Council and renegotiate the contract with
El Terrat
considering that signing for three seasons "is a mortgage" for the public entity.
The rejected proposal already postponed to the Council next week, if approved, would have meant a total of
160 episodes
per season, between 70 and 80 minutes long from Monday to Thursday, and at a cost of
14.07 million per season
.
That is, for three seasons, the cost for RTVE
would be more than 42 million
.
Although the amount was valued by a good part of the Council, which views the signing of Broncano
favorably
, but not with these conditions, what generated the most rejection among the councilors was signing for three seasons with the condition that if the program does not reach the cut-off share imposed by contract, RTVE can move the program to another slot, such as
late night
, but maintaining the cost for each program.
Something that does not usually happen, since if it is moved to another time slot with less audience, the costs of the programs decrease.
According to sources from the public channel, the Public Corporation also does not have the rights to the
La Resistencia
brand , but its intention is to acquire the name and social networks from Movistar Plus+.
The production, according to the pre-agreement, would be carried out on a delayed basis, but with the option of broadcasting it live if the production company gave the green light.
Broncano
and
El Terrat
have not only tried to continue on
Movistar Plus+
or go to
RTVE
, but they have also negotiated with other networks, including
Telecinco
.
However, the requirement to close a contract for three seasons was a red line for the main Mediaset network, since no one guarantees that a program that has always been broadcast on a platform with a niche audience can work on general television where the public is completely different.
For a private television, signing three seasons means taking a mortgage for all that time if the program does not work, which is why the negotiations did not end up coming together.
It was then that
RTVE
found out that there were possibilities of signing
David Broncano
and taking
La Resistencia
as its big bet for a slot in which it has been impossible to compete for years since
El Hormiguero
is the most watched program on television with an average of 2,290,000 spectators at the end of 2023.
La 1 premiered the 4 Estrellas
series in April 2023
with the intention of creating a brand in that complicated strip, aware that competing against
Pablo Motos
and his ants was impossible.
In fact, Telecinco itself took a chance at the beginning of this season with the
