Kagoshima Prefectural Police Headquarters has revealed that personal information including the names of the parties involved in four incidents, including a sexual assault incident that occurred at a residential treatment facility for coronavirus patients, has been leaked to an external party.

Police have apologized to the parties involved and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the leak.

According to the Kagoshima Prefectural Police Headquarters, what was leaked was an internal document called the ``List of Complaints and Complaints Case Handling List.''

The leaked document contained personal information for a total of 12 people, including the names of the parties involved in the four cases for which the police had received complaints and accusations, as well as the status of the response to the cases.

This includes the names of those who filed charges and those who were not prosecuted in a sexual assault case that occurred at a residential treatment facility for coronavirus patients. The leak was discovered when an online media article claiming that there was a problem with the police investigation was published with personal information blacked out.

Kagoshima Prefectural Police Headquarters has apologized to the parties whose names were leaked by the 12th, and is investigating the details of the incident.

Kiyoshi Kawasaki, chief of the Criminal Planning Division of the Kagoshima Prefectural Police Headquarters, commented, ``We apologize for the inconvenience caused to those involved. We will conduct a strict investigation into the circumstances surrounding the leak.''
