The parent company of Hamazushi has been awarded 500 million yen over an incident in which the operating company of the conveyor belt sushi chain Kappa Sushi allegedly fraudulently used confidential business data from rival Hamazushi. A lawsuit seeking compensation for damages has begun, and Kappa Sushi has shown a willingness to fight.

Kappa Create, which operates Kappa Sushi, was charged with violating the Unfair Competition Prevention Act for illegally using purchasing data taken from the parent company of rival chain Hama Sushi. He was sentenced to a fine of 30 million yen at the Tokyo District Court and is currently appealing.



Regarding this incident, Zensho Holdings, the parent company of Hamazushi, said that the damages were more than 6.3 billion yen, and it will pay 500 million yen in damages to Kappa Create, the former president who took the data, and the business owner who took the data. A lawsuit was filed to have the information destroyed.

The trial began at the Tokyo District Court on the 12th, and the defendants, including Kappa Create, asked for the lawsuit to be dismissed and showed a stance of fighting the case fully.
