In the case of former boxing professional Besar Nimani, who was shot dead in Bielefeld, the police are looking for two suspects with an arrest warrant and a public search notice.

The two 33-year-olds are suspected of having shot the 38-year-old on the street in Bielefeld on Saturday, as police and public prosecutors announced on Tuesday.

They came into the focus of investigators “promptly” after the crime, but were still on the run.

On the night of the crime, special forces searched their apartments.

The two could not be found in other apartments in downtown Bielefeld that have been searched since then.

Investigators warned that those wanted could be armed.

The “Neue Westfälische” reports that eyewitnesses recognized one of the two perpetrators at the crime scene and saw him stand with his legs apart in front of his victim and then, holding the pistol with both hands, pulled the trigger several times.

The police published names and photos of the wanted people on their wanted portal on the Internet and asked the public for help.

Witnesses or accomplices should contact the investigating murder squad with information about possible whereabouts or escape routes, it said.

The shots were fired on Saturday evening in the middle of Bielefeld's pedestrian zone.

According to police investigations, Nimani had previously parked his car near the crime scene.

He then walked towards a shop.

He was then shot at while he was still on the street.

According to the autopsy results, the 38-year-old died from numerous gunshot wounds.

“The main injuries affect the chest area,” said the investigators.

The investigators initially did not provide any further information about the possible background to the crime.
