Snow removal work has begun on the Hachimantai Aspite Line, a tourist road connecting Iwate and Akita prefectures that is closed during the winter, in preparation for its opening next month, and a safety prayer festival was held in Hachimantai City on the Iwate side. Ta.

The safety prayer festival was held in front of Gozaisho Gate, the starting point on the Iwate Prefecture side of the Hachimantai Aspite Line, and about 30 people, including construction workers working on snow removal, participated.

The priest prayed for the safety of the work, and immediately six snowplows passed through the gate and began work.

The Hachimantai Aspite Line is a 27km tourist road that connects Hachimantai City in Iwate Prefecture and Kazuno City in Akita Prefecture, and is closed during the winter due to snow.

The road is scheduled to open on the 15th of next month, and once it opens, many tourists will come every year to see the ``Snow Corridor,'' a wall of snow that stretches along the side of the road.

However, Iwate Prefecture's Iwate Civil Engineering Center, which manages the road, says that because there is little snow this year, the height of the wall may be lower than usual.

Mamoru Furudate, Manager of the Road and River Maintenance Division of the Iwate Civil Engineering Center, said, ``This is the only tourist road in the prefecture, so we will prioritize safety when removing snow, and we hope that many people will come and see the snowy corridor.'' .
