A male security guard on the Tokaido Shinkansen train has been reprimanded for touching a passenger who was sleeping in his seat.

The security guard reportedly said, ``He repeated this act about 20 times to molest the woman.''

This was revealed at a press conference held in Nagoya by JR Tokai and the Tokyo security company ``Zennippo'', which is entrusted with in-car security on the Tokaido Shinkansen.

According to the report, a passenger who took the Tokaido Shinkansen late last month complained to a station staff member that he felt like he had been groped by a crew member.

An investigation by both companies revealed that a 25-year-old male security guard who was guarding the train's interior had groped a passenger who was sleeping in his seat.

The male security guard told an investigation that he had repeatedly molested women about 20 times since last summer, and as of the 7th of this month, the All Nippon Police Department had dismissed him with a reprimand.

``Zennihon Kei'' is responsible for security at office buildings, airports, events, etc., and currently, at least one security guard is on duty for each train on the Tokaido Shinkansen.

Keisuke Kondo, acting manager of the JR Tokai Shinkansen Railway Business Headquarters, said at a press conference, ``We take it very seriously that a security guard who is supposed to protect the safety of our customers caused such an incident on board the train, and we deeply apologize. We will provide thorough guidance and management. I'll do it," he apologized.
