A brigade of several battalions, with an estimated number of soldiers between 3,000 and 5,000.

His forces had previously participated in all of the United States' wars, starting with World War II, through the Vietnam War, and ending with America's wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, and the Balkans.

In March 2024, he was directed to build a “relief pier” off the shores of the besieged Gaza Strip due to the deteriorating humanitarian situation due to the war launched by Israel since October 7, 2023 on the besieged Strip.

The primary tasks of the 7th Transport Brigade (Expeditionary) are to provide support to port units, stations and watercraft, which conduct multi-mission exploratory operations in support of land military operations.

The brigade operates from the strategic or naval base (Joint Langley-Eustis) to forces engaged in ground military operations around the world, and the unit's motto is "Spearhead of Logistics."

Joint Base Langley-Eustis

The brigade's headquarters are located at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, a military facility located adjacent to Hampton and Newport News, Virginia, not far from the headquarters of the NATO Naval Command in Norfolk.

The base includes two parts: Langley Air Force Base, US Air Force, and Eustis Air Force Base, which were merged on October 1, 2010.

Base Eustis is a historic ground forces facility, and the second half of Joint Base Langley is used to train soldiers in transportation operations, aviation maintenance and complex logistics.

The most important functions of the Seventh Logistics Brigade

Ability to rapidly deploy and maintain forces through defined and strict access points, control and operate waterports while continuing to play an important role in port opening activities, and transport and deploy forces in support of unified land operations.

The 7th Brigade also assesses the infrastructure of the targeted site, and plans and implements the redeployment of emergency units.

The 7th Brigade facilitates the logistics of early entry of ground forces across the beach, plans health service support for military operations and training of medical personnel, and supervises field feeding operations for personnel.

New Soldiers are trained in the Transportation Brigade upon completion of advanced individual training.

Upon completion of the Basic Course for Transport Soldiers, officers are automatically inducted into service, and non-commissioned officers are inducted upon completion of the Non-Commissioned Officer Candidate Course.

Brigade commanders

The brigade is led by Colonel Samuel Miller, who graduated from Wayland Baptist University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Equipment Technology.

He also completed training with the Land Forces Command College, the Joint Forces Staff College, and the Naval War College, with a master's degree in National Security and Strategic Studies.

He participated in the stabilization support forces in Kosovo, and the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.

Colonel Miller is followed by First Sergeant Arcelia Staggers, who holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and a Bachelor of Science in Applied Forensic Science from Methodist University in North Carolina, and a Master's in National Security from George Washington University in DC.

She previously participated in the stabilization support forces in Kosovo, and the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.

Relief dock in Gaza

President Joe Biden assigned the 7th Transportation Brigade the task of building the naval pier and the bridge connecting it to the land off the coast of the Gaza Strip, in order to what was said to be a temporary port for the entry of humanitarian and relief aid to the residents of the Strip.

The tasks assigned to the brigade include building a floating dock at sea that allows huge ships to deliver aid, to be loaded onto smaller support ships, and to be unloaded on a floating bridge.

The length of the bridge is about 1,800 feet (nearly 550 meters). The two-lane bridge will be directed to a landing site on the beach, and will be secured by non-American parties, which the Pentagon spokesman did not name and are expected to be Israeli.

This is followed by the arrival of trucks to the bridge entrance to load the aid and transport it into the Strip.
