Finally a sign of life: This photo is supposed to show Princess Kate on a garden chair, surrounded by her three children.

Or not?

Several news outlets, including AFP and AP, had retracted the photo because upon closer inspection it appeared to be obviously doctored.

But you can still see it on the Royals' X account.

Near Princess Charlotte's left hand, an "inconsistency in the depiction of the sleeve can be seen," writes AP.

There also appears to be a digital change to the zipper at Kate's chest level.

And this section of hair could possibly have been reworked.

The royals released the photo on British Mother's Day.

Kate has since apologized for the “confusion” surrounding the edited recording.

She has experimented a little with photo editing herself, she writes on the platform X.

In mid-January, the palace announced that the 42-year-old had undergone abdominal surgery.

She won't be making any appointments until after Easter.

The Princess of Wales's long absence has sparked public speculation about her health.

Conspiracy theories also made the rounds.

And they may have picked up speed again thanks to the edited photo.
