It was probably intended as a sign of life after weeks of absence from the public.

For British Mother's Day on Sunday, the palace published a current photo of Princess Kate.

She can be seen on it with her three children.

Now, however, several major news agencies have withdrawn the image.

The Associated Press (AP), Agence France-Presse (AFP) and Reuters issued a "kill notice" on the photo.

This means media is stopped from using the photo.

According to the agencies, the reason is possible manipulation of the photo.

Specifically, according to the Associated Press, it seems to be about Princess Charlotte's hand in marriage.

What exactly is supposed to be manipulated is not yet completely clear.

The photo is said to come from Prince William, 41.

According to the PA news agency, it was created a few days ago.

The 42-year-old can be seen with her three children.

Her arms are wrapped around the waist of her two younger children, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5, who can be seen to her left and right.

Charlotte has sat down with one leg on the armrest.

Her eldest son Prince George, 10, can be seen behind Kate.

“Thank you very much for your kind wishes and continued support over the last two months,” the wife of the heir to the British throne, William, wrote in a message on X about the picture.

»I wish everyone a happy Mother’s Day.«

Concern about the princess's health

Princess Kate underwent abdominal surgery in January.

She then spent 13 nights in the London clinic near Regent's Park in central London.

Prince William visited his wife during her stay, as did King Charles III before he received treatment there himself.

The palace has released few details about Kate's condition but said it was not cancer.

It also said they would only report on her recovery process if there was important new information.
