In the case of a German killed in Norway, there will be no trial at the Münster regional court.

The 24-year-old's boyfriend, who was accused of murder, was found dead in his cell in custody on March 8, as the head of the prison in Duisburg announced.

According to the Münster public prosecutor's office on Monday, the dead man was the 29-year-old against whom the authorities brought charges in January.

The Duisburg public prosecutor's office has initiated a death investigation.

According to a statement from the correctional facility, investigators have no evidence of foul play.

According to the prosecution, the German is said to have shot his girlfriend during a vacation in Scandinavia.

The 24-year-old's body was found in mid-October at a lake about 300 kilometers north of Oslo.

The woman's parents reported their daughter missing because she didn't show up for work after her vacation and couldn't be reached.

Her boyfriend then became the focus of investigators.

During a search, officers reportedly found the alleged murder weapon, the victim's cell phone and wallet, as well as other firearms.
