“

After several experiences (...) we thought that it was now time to trust a national coach

,” declared the president of the FBF, Lazare Bansé, during a press conference, promising “

the beginning of a major reform (...) for Burkinabè football

 ”.

The new coach of the Stallions, appointed for a “

long-term contract

”, will have the main missions of “

building a young team

 ” and “

qualifying Burkina Faso for the CAN in Morocco and the next world championship

”, respectively in 2025 and 2026 , declared Lazare Bansé.

In mid-February, the FBF decided not to renew the contract of Frenchman Hubert Velud, a few days after the elimination of the Stallions in the round of 16 of the African Cup of Nations (CAN).

Former international midfielder (29 caps), Brama Traoré, 50, was coach of the U20s and U23s, and distinguished himself in particular with a silver medal won by the U20s during the last Francophonie Games in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

From 2012 to 2015, he was assistant to coach Paul Put.

“

I have been through all the youth selections for years.

I have not skipped steps, and I will do everything to bring the Stallions everywhere as far as possible

 ,” reacted Brama Traoré.

Brama TRAORÉ: “

I will do everything to ensure that discipline reigns within our selection.

I’m counting on you for that because there’s no point in having undisciplined people in our selection…”#FasoSports pic.twitter.com/tFA9iu7L6T
