Last week, a woman in her 20s was confirmed to be infected with measles in Tokyo.

Because the woman was on the same plane as a patient confirmed to be infected in Osaka this month, and then used the Shinkansen and restaurants in Tokyo, the Tokyo metropolitan government has recommended that anyone with suspected symptoms receive medical treatment. We urge you to consult with the agency.

According to the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, the person who was confirmed to be infected with measles is a woman in her 20s living in Osaka who was visiting Tokyo.

The woman had returned from the United Arab Emirates last month on the same plane as a man in his 20s who was confirmed to be infected with measles in Osaka Prefecture on the 1st of this month.

For this reason, while undergoing health monitoring, on the 8th of this month, she developed symptoms of fever and rash while staying in Tokyo, and a subsequent test confirmed that she was infected.

She is currently hospitalized, but she is said to be on the road to recovery.

Additionally, the woman left Osaka on the Shinkansen at 1:00 pm on the 7th, traveled to Tokyo, and visited a restaurant in Chuo Ward that evening.

Measles is spread through the air and is extremely contagious, so the Tokyo Metropolitan Government has published specific information on its website about the Shinkansen and restaurants that the woman used.

In addition, if you suspect that you have symptoms, please contact a medical institution in advance and seek medical treatment, and we urge you to refrain from using public transportation when traveling.
