Football: Senegal coach Aliou Cissé extended until 2026

The coach of the Senegal national football team, Aliou Cissé, has been reappointed until the 2026 World Cup, announced the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) in a video published on Friday March 8.

The executive committee renews its confidence in coach Aliou Cissé and urges him to continue his mission with a view to achieving future objectives, namely qualification for CAN 2025 and the 2026 World Cup

 ,” declared the vice president. -president of the Seydou Sane federation.

The Lions of Teranga are coming out of a disappointing African Cup of Nations after being eliminated in the round of 16 by Ivory Coast, host and winner of this edition.

Under the orders of Aliou Cissé, 47, at the head of the selection since 2015, Senegal won the first CAN in its history during the edition contested in 2022, after reaching the final of the continental competition in 2019. Senegal is currently in 17th place in the FIFA rankings, the second best ranking for an African team after Morocco (12th).
