Almost two months after her abdominal operation, during which she was almost invisible, Kensington Palace published the first official photo of Princess Kate on social networks on Sunday, thanking the public for their support.

Sitting on a garden chair and dressed in jeans, a sweater and a dark jacket, the image shows the Princess of Wales smiling, surrounded by her three children, George, Charlotte and Louis, laughing.

The photo was taken by Prince William, according to the accompanying caption.

Thank you for your kind wishes and continued support over the last two months.

Wishing everyone a Happy Mother's Day.

"Thank you for your wishes and continued support over the last two months. I wish everyone a happy Mother's Day", celebrated in the United Kingdom this Sunday, further indicates this short message, signed "C" (for Catherine ).

In a statement, the palace specifies that the photo was taken "in Windsor earlier this week", while the princess's last public appearance dates back to the royal family's Christmas mass at Sandringham.

Only one image had leaked since the start of Kate's convalescence

This family photograph is the first official image of Kate released by the royal family since her hospitalization on January 16 for abdominal surgery, the cause of which has not been revealed.

Kensington Palace then said that the princess would not resume her official activities before Easter and she had remained almost invisible since, sparking speculation and questions about her state of health.

The absence of the princess at the heart of speculation...

Only one image had leaked, at the beginning of March, into American media specializing in celebrities: a photo of Kate, black sunglasses on her eyes, sitting in a car driven by her mother.

The British press, which adores the Princess of Wales and the couple she forms with William, did not publish the photo, Kensington Palace having asked to respect their privacy during his convalescence.

But even the powerful tabloid press recently pointed out the lack of transparency around Kate's condition, at the same time that King Charles III publicly admitted to having cancer.
