New old clothes

A new version of the work of art “Venus in Rags” was unveiled in Naples.

In it, the artist Michelangelo Pistoletto pairs a marble sculpture of the goddess Venus with a pile of discarded clothing.

The prominent representative of Arte Povera originally created the installation in 1967, but in 2023 a huge version of it was installed in the Piazza del Municipio in Naples.

Two weeks later it burned down, apparently someone had set the fire.

Mayor Gaetano Manfredi announced that reconstruction would take place soon: "Violence and vandalism will not stop art in Naples." Now the Venus is back in the city's central square.

Then came the Cholitas escaladoras, the climbing Cholitas who climb the mountains in skirts.

Julia Quispe Tincuta (pictured) also belongs to this group.

The Cholitas escaladoras are a small group of indigenous women who want to reach the summit of Mount Everest in 2025.

But they are already preparing – like here at Huayna Potosí near El Alto in Bolivia.
