On March 10, 1924, Jin Yong was born in a scholarly family in Haining, Zhejiang.

From the age of 31 to 48, in 17 years, Jin Yong created 15 martial arts novels that were very popular and well-known at home and abroad.

From "The Book of Swords and Enmities" (1955) to "The Deer and the Cauldron" (1972), Jin Yong connected the first words of his works except "The Yue Nv Sword" to form a couplet: Flying Snow Shoots White Deer, Laughing Book The hero relies on Biyuan.

This couplet was hung at the door of Jin Yong's office. It was written by Jin Yong himself. The writing style is powerful and unique.

Someone asked: "What kind of font is this?" He smiled and replied: "There is no font."

The couplet hanging at the door of Jin Yong's office in the north corner of Hong Kong Island reads "The snow falls in the sky and shoots the white deer, the laughing book hero leans on the blue mandarin duck".

Jin Yong passed away

The road to the world is long, let’s say goodbye

And every novel by Jin Yong

The words have been exhausted, the meaning is endless

Chivalrous vs childish

The martial arts world described by Jin Yong is full of colorful heroes and heroes: the brave and loyal Guo Jing, the sentimental and righteous Qiao Feng, the bold and unruly Linghu Chong...

  What is a hero?

It is benevolence and righteousness, it is family and country.

Jin Yong said in an article: "Benevolence means fully caring about the sufferings and grievances of the masses, and righteousness means doing everything you can to do what you should do. By extension, it means a great chivalrous person who serves the country and the people."

A child once asked Jin Yong: "Are there really any heroes in the world who can do martial arts?" The answer was: "People nowadays can't do martial arts but they can still be chivalrous. If you sacrifice your own interests and help others, you will become a chivalrous person."

When he was a student, Jin Yong was expelled from school twice for "unruly behavior".

When he was in middle school in Jiaxing, Zhejiang, he was dissatisfied with the dean of students for "always scolding classmates without reason" and wrote posters to satirize him, so he was expelled from school. In college, he disobeyed teachers and made offensive remarks, and was expelled from school again.

In 1972, when the serialization of "The Deer and the Cauldron" in "Ming Pao" was about to end, 48-year-old Jin Yong wrote a letter to Gu Long, inviting contributions for "Ming Pao".

When Gu Long received this letter, he was in disbelief: As a competitor in martial arts circles, Jin Daxia actually took the initiative to sell out the top position of "Ming Pao".

If you say to close the pen, then close the pen; if you say to go to study, then go to study.

In 2005, the 81-year-old Jin Yong packed up his schoolbag and went to Cambridge University in the UK to study for a PhD. He even wanted to ride a bicycle to school, but his wife firmly stopped him.

Perhaps chivalry itself contains a childishness.

The knight is as pure and sincere as a child, trying his best to distinguish right from wrong and pursue his true heart in the complex entanglement of human nature.

Fearless of power, meaningless gains and losses.

Keep writing and keep improving

Jin Yong founded Ming Pao when he was 35 years old. He wrote editorials with his left hand and novels with his right hand.

He poured his heart and soul into this newspaper.

Every day when I open my eyes, I owe 2,000 words. I don’t have dinner until I finish writing the editorial, and I don’t go to any kind of dinner.

The typesetter sat eagerly waiting for him to finish the manuscript, printing it as soon as the pen came down.

He once said that he "runs a newspaper and really sacrifices his life to run it, and writes novels just for fun."

But Jin Daxia's "playing" is not casual.

After the publication of "The Deer and the Cauldron", Jin Yong turned to polishing and revising the old version of the work. Making the work a classic was his greatest wish.

The latest edition currently on the market is actually Jin Yong's revised third edition. From the old edition to the second edition, the novel has deleted similar and repetitive plots, characters, and emotions; from the second edition to the newly revised edition, the novel has lost more details and psychological descriptions. Adding bricks and tiles to make the characters more flesh and blood.

Not many writers make such extensive changes to their work.

Jin Yong's works are presented in "three editions", each edition has its own fun.

Regarding the ability to tell stories, Jin Yong never denied his talent.

But the word "talent" is too light compared to the hard work behind it.

The road of love is full of twists and turns, and the loss of your beloved son is painful

Jin Yong has been married three times. In the interview, he considered himself "not very romantic". He has never written a love poem. He has only sent paper fake flowers to his wife because they are cheap and not easy to break. There is no proposal ceremony.

"I told her to register for marriage tomorrow. She said yes, and then she went to register for marriage."

Although the ideal love in his heart is to last forever, he admitted that "he can't do it himself."

"My first wife left me and got divorced. The second time I felt sorry for my wife and I divorced her."

As a father, Jin Yong doesn't control his children very much, but when he talks about his children, his words are full of pride. He is especially satisfied that his eldest son is "very well-behaved" and "does good at homework."

Unfortunately, God's will caused his eldest son to commit suicide abroad when he was 19 years old, which became an indelible pain in his life. Since then, Jin Yong has studied Buddhist scriptures and sought comfort.

No matter in the world of martial arts or in real life, so many joys and sorrows, love and hatred, finally turned into a sentence of "make a big fuss and leave quietly", leaving only a legend and a chivalrous love in people's thoughts.
