The military and strategic expert, Major General Fayez Al-Duwairi, considered the sniping operation - carried out by the Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), in the Beit Hanoun area in the northern Gaza Strip, to be a remarkable act and deserving of admiration and appreciation.

The Brigades had broadcast scenes of a sniper attack on an Israeli officer east of Beit Hanoun, where a group of Israeli soldiers appeared, before one of the Qassam snipers fired a bullet at one of them, causing him to fall to the ground immediately, while his companions fled.

Al-Duwairi explained - in a military analysis for Al-Jazeera - that this operation is noteworthy because it took place in an area that the occupation forces had reached since the first day of the first phase of the ground operation on October 27, and destroyed about 80% of its buildings.

He added that the occupation announced in previous times that it imposed full control over that area and got rid of the resistance forces present in it, which explains the movement and behavior with ease on the ground based on this perception.

The military expert believes that this operation confirms the effectiveness of the tunnel network, and the ability of resistance elements to invest in them optimally to carry out successful operations above the ground.

According to Al-Duwairi, the operation showed the targeting of the sniper, the leader of the group, who can be distinguished as the one carrying a device on his back, which means that the sniper had the appropriate amount of time to accurately determine his target.
