Pioneering resolution in Spain: a judge from Barcelona opens the door for the first time to fining pirated football users.

An order from the Commercial Court number 8 gives the green light to be able to take legal measures directly against all those users who watch matches through illegal pages.

Specifically, the resolution will force Internet operators in Spain - Telefónica, Vodafone, Orange, MásMovil and Digi - to inform the competent LaLiga authorities and provide the data and information of all users who connect to the page servers. pirate football

Among the information that operators will be obliged to provide is the IP assigned to the user;

the name, surname and identification number of the person who appears as the owner of the Internet contract with that company;

and the address of the home to which the line and billing are assigned.

In fact, operators will have to send these personal data of their clients directly to La Liga and without the need for an in-person appearance in court - by sending it through a secure electronic channel -, a faster way to be able to sanction consumers.

With these data, the judge gives the clubs' employers a month to present the lawsuit and initiate the relevant legal measures for illegal consumption of football.

This order is unprecedented since, until now, each regulation created to block pirate consumption or the resolutions allowing against it have fallen on the creators of the websites, the public establishments (bars and restaurants) that broadcast pirate football or the companies that They distribute the illegal service.

Now, the burden also falls on consumers directly and individually.
