The officers will probably remember this operation for a long time: In Great Britain, the police caught an 11-year-old who was driving a BMW on the motorway - and was pulling a recently stolen caravan behind him.

Officers were informed that a caravan had been stolen from a campsite near Thirsk in north-east England and towed away by a black BMW, police said.

The team was then discovered and pursued on the M1 motorway.

“But we were not prepared for a schoolboy to be behind the wheel,” said the authorities in the North Yorkshire region.

The legal minimum driving age in the UK is 17.

The boy was taken to the station on suspicion of a number of crimes, including theft, burglary and traffic violations.

He was questioned and then released on bail.
