Analysts and military experts believe that the important card in the hands of the Palestinian resistance is the Israeli prisoners it is holding in the Gaza Strip, and they stressed its importance in order to obtain a comprehensive ceasefire in Gaza.

In an exclusive speech broadcast by Al Jazeera, Abu Ubaida, spokesman for the Al-Qassam Brigades - the military wing of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), said, “Our top priority for completing the prisoner exchange is full commitment to stopping the aggression and the enemy’s withdrawal, and there is no giving up on that.”

The military and strategic expert, Major General Fayez Al-Duwairi, said that the Palestinian resistance should not neglect the issue of prisoners until after a comprehensive ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

Because the resistance in Gaza - Al-Duwairi adds - still has the ability to continue fighting, it adheres to its demands and does not make concessions during the ongoing negotiations in order to reach a truce with the Israeli side.

In the view of the writer and political analyst, Iyad Al-Qara, the resistance is the master of the field in the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip, and this supports it in its negotiations, pointing out that the resistance is still using new tools and methods against the occupation, and it is inflicting daily losses among its soldiers.

He spoke of a Palestinian consensus that the military performance of the resistance is solid, strong and cohesive.

The resistance, Al-Qara says, also has a great power card related to the Israeli prisoners, and Abu Ubaida may have wanted - in his speech broadcast on Al Jazeera - to send a mobilizing message at the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan.

Famine extends to the prisoners

The researcher specializing in Israeli affairs, Ihab Jabareen, pointed out that the weak point of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is the field and the families of the prisoners, noting that Abu Ubaida linked the fate of the prisoners to what the Palestinians in Gaza are exposed to in terms of starvation and all the catastrophic tragedies that Israel is carrying out as a pressure strategy on Palestinians.

He also said that the spokesman for the Qassam Brigades indicated that the Netanyahu government prefers to receive the prisoners inside coffins, and this is a sharp reference to the Israeli street, especially since the occupation kills its prisoners every time it tries to free them - according to Jabareen - who added that Netanyahu is afraid of the testimonies of the prisoners it holds. The Palestinian resistance in Gaza, which is why he prefers them to remain silent.

Abu Ubaida said in his speech that the famine extends to the prisoners as well, and some of them are suffering from illness due to the lack of food and medicine.

On the other hand, analysts and experts confirmed - in their talk to the program “Gaza... What Next?” - that Abu Ubaida recalled basic issues in his speech, and linked the Al-Aqsa Flood operation to the Israeli attacks on Al-Aqsa Mosque and on the Palestinians.

Abu Ubaida called on the Palestinian people to mobilize and march to Al-Aqsa, stay there, and not allow the occupation to impose facts on the ground.
