Yesterday marked a milestone of unusual gravity in the history of Spain.
With the approval of the Amnesty Law in the Justice Commission of the Congress of Deputies, the socialist Government has sealed its
break with the constitutional consensus and has made effective the worst of corruption
: the transaction of impunity in exchange for power.
Harassed by a sordid plot of corruption born in his Government, and moved by the sole desire to guarantee the investiture and stretch to the maximum
imo a legislature founded on lies, Pedro Sánchez not only granted amnesty to the independence politicians who dealt the most severe blow to coexistence in Catalonia, erasing even the possible crimes of terrorism, high treason and corruption, but he took a step decisive towards
delegitimization of democracy
Spanish.
The danger is enormous: from the toxic seed of the amnesty, "reconciliation" will not spring, as the Government says, but discord.
What begins is not a happy era of harmony, but the reset of the
processes
.
The counter is reset to zero for the political and economic demands that the independence movement put on the table during the Artur Mas era.
With two substantial differences: now the legal, political and moral defenses of the State are deactivated, and the Basque and Catalan nationalists advance in coordination to take advantage of the weakest president in our democratic history.
The erosion of the authority of institutions is not collateral damage but rather a sought-after objective.
Spain is portrayed, to the liking of Junts, ERC and the entire "plurinational" alliance, as a low-quality democracy that practices ideological repression.
Thus, the magistrates who judged the illegal referendum of October 1, 2017 are pointed out as epitomes of
lawfare
, and the set of State institutions is disqualified to the point that only the executive power is invested with legitimacy.
Using an indefensible emergency procedure for a norm of such weight, relying on a precarious parliamentary majority and only united by its frontist spirit, with the rejection of the majority of the country, negotiating with opacity each of the articles of the law with its specifics. beneficiaries and adapting it on the fly to the judicial proceedings against them,

The new wording of the text confirms that the disagreements that had postponed its approval - now pending the definitive approval of the plenary session - have been settled, as has been the case since 23-J, with
more transfers to Carles Puigdemont
.
The effective application of these changes remains to be seen.
Circumventing the reference to the Spanish Penal Code on terrorism to jump to European law is a rhetorical absurdity, but it serves the key purpose of weakening the political system.
The Government also incorporates
forgiveness of embezzlement
when there is no personal enrichment, a premise that is difficult to accept in Europe.
And impunity will extend even to Jordi Pujol's children.
In any case, no matter how the amnesty ends, the fugitive's disruptive strategy has already won.
Puigdemont has Sánchez tied to his will, and the president confirms that he is willing to do anything to maintain the support of his seven deputies.
Minister Félix Bolaños assures that this pact guarantees the approval of the Budgets, but Junts already warns that the blackmail of the State has only just begun.
"Reconciliation" is non-existent: the independentists neither ask for it nor promise it.
They do not renounce their demands -based on a reactionary feeling of superiority with respect to the Spaniards without a co-official language- nor the methods they used -unilaterality-, but they already propose a self-determination referendum and a "fiscal pact."
Since yesterday, and with the sole and authoritarian purpose of preventing alternation, the indissolubility of the nation has been put up for auction to satisfy those who fight against coexistence between free and equal citizens.
Spain is facing a dismissal process.
Junts has managed to remove the socialists - and their power apparatus - from their position as a systemic party.
The PSOE has betrayed the principles on which it was founded: equality and fraternity
.
Since yesterday we know that there is a Penal Code for ordinary citizens and another full of exceptions and privileges for the associates of the man who circumstantially occupies the General Secretariat of the PSOE and the Presidency of the Government.
The children of the emigrants who built up Catalonia for decades today know that they are second-class citizens for an Executive that calls itself socialist and yet gives in again and again to the supremacism that calls them "settlers."
But from the rest of Spain, from the integrity of its institutions - starting with the Royal House - and from the solidarity of its compatriots, the breath of resistance against arbitrariness and despotism must come to them.
The Constitution will prevail.
