At the open group meeting of the Qinghai delegation held on March 6, Qinghai’s National People’s Congress representatives said that the post-disaster recovery and reconstruction work is currently entering the planning implementation and project advancement stage, and about 38,000 disaster-stricken households will move into new homes before the end of the year.

The open group meeting also announced the reconstruction plans for Jintian and Caotan villages, which were most severely affected by sand surges.

Wang Huajie, deputy to the National People's Congress and commander of the post-disaster recovery and reconstruction headquarters in Haidong, Qinghai, said at an open group meeting of the Qinghai delegation on March 6 that the earthquake damaged the houses of about 38,000 households in Haidong.

The repair and reinforcement of damaged houses will be completed by the end of July, and the reconstruction of collapsed houses will be completed by the end of October, ensuring that all affected people will move into new homes by the end of this year.

Wang Huajie said that the post-disaster reconstruction plan combines meeting the basic production and living needs of the disaster-stricken people with frugality and practicality, improving disaster resistance and disaster prevention capabilities, and combines retaining the rural charm and nostalgia with protecting the traditional rural features and rationally arranging the production and living ecological space.

Several National People's Congress representatives at the open group meeting of the Qinghai delegation said that post-disaster reconstruction work has entered the stage of planning and implementation and project promotion, including rural housing construction, public services, infrastructure, ecological protection, supporting industries and other projects in a scientific and orderly manner.
