A man who wanted to file a complaint was arrested in Braunschweig himself.

The 45-year-old apparently did not know that he was wanted by the judiciary when he showed up to the officers on Wednesday, the federal police said on Thursday.

He was sentenced to a fine of 570 euros for multiple fraudulent payments, which he has not paid since his conviction in October.

He didn't pay the fine on Wednesday evening either.

The officers therefore took the man to prison, where he now has to serve a substitute prison sentence of 38 days.

He actually just wanted to file a criminal complaint at the federal police station about a stolen backpack containing valuables.
