The cult series “Baywatch” will soon be back on the small screens with a new cast, more than 20 years after the end of the adventures of Pamela Anderson and David Hasselhoff.

In the 1990s, the series was so successful that some episodes exceeded a billion viewers per week.

Malibu beach lifeguards will soon be donning their famous red swimsuits.

If Pamela Anderson and David Hasselhoff are not expected to star in this reboot, a whole new team of lifeguards will take their place on the beaches of Los Angeles.

“Daring rescues, picture-perfect beaches and iconic red swimsuits are back, with a new generation of lifeguards navigating their complicated personal lives,” Fox wrote in a statement.

No release date revealed

Screenwriter Lara Olsen, who already worked on the 

90210 Beverly Hills reboot, 

will be at the helm of this project.

The creators of the original series will be producers on this new version.

For the moment, the broadcast date and the cast have not been revealed.

Aired from 1989 to 2001,

Baywatch

has 11 seasons and 243 episodes.

Extremely popular, the series attracted more than a billion viewers per week at its peak.

It also contributed to the fame of its two leading actors, David Hasselhoff and Pamela Anderson.

Several films and television films related to the universe of the series have been released since the end of the original series, including a remake released in 2017 with Zac Efron and Dwayne Johnson, entitled
