Palestinian female prisoners from the Gaza Strip who were recently released revealed to Al Jazeera that they were subjected to physical and psychological torture throughout their detention by the Israeli occupation forces.

A displaced woman said that on December 24, Israeli tanks and bulldozers entered the school where they were located and demolished the school wall, and the occupation soldiers asked everyone to go out to the square and raise their hands.

After gathering in the square, they asked the men to remove their clothes except for their underwear, then they took them to the mosque, and then they asked the women to also go to the mosque, where they were interrogated.

She confirmed that the questions centered on her relationship, her husband, and her family with the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and who belongs to the resistance at school. She stated that the occupation elements threatened her not to see her children, especially her child Adam (5 years old), if she did not help them, stressing that she insisted on her position of not knowing anything. .

She added that they took her and other women to Zakim Prison and then to a detention center in occupied Jerusalem, and after 8 days they transferred them to Haifa Prison, and during the transfer process they were subjected to insults and insults, in addition to humiliation inside the prison.

Another revealed that she was displaced with her children to an elementary school, and said that the Israelis invaded the area, and when they came to take her, she tried to calm her children down and told them that she would be away from them for a while and then come back.

This woman says that she was subjected to searches and humiliating treatment by Israeli female soldiers. She fainted, her hands were tied behind her back, and they made her sit with the rest of the Palestinian women in tiring and humiliating positions.

After 43 days of captivity and suffering, she was finally able to obtain information that her children were with relatives in Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip.

Another Palestinian woman also spoke about being subjected to various forms of torture, including beatings and tying of her hands, in addition to covering her eyes and removing her hijab. She confirmed that they were beaten with an iron object on their heads.

It is noteworthy that the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor had confirmed that it had received testimonies about Palestinian detainees from the Gaza Strip - including women and children - being subjected to severe torture and treatment that degrades human dignity, including nudity and sexual harassment or the threat thereof, calling for urgent international action to stop these violations.
