Ayman Al-Salmi, a doctor from the Sultanate of Oman, could not bear the scenes of murder, misery and destruction that befell the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, so he went to them to treat and console them, in a humanitarian stance that impressed social media activists.

Because reaching the Palestinian Strip is not an easy matter in light of the Israeli siege and war, the Omani doctor - who is a plastic, orthopedic and corrective surgeon - communicated with international bodies sending cadres to the Gaza Strip and was accepted, and he did not tell anyone that he was heading to Gaza until after his arrival there.

He now works at the European Hospital in Khan Yunis, south of the Gaza Strip, and performs 10 or 11 surgical operations on victims of Israeli bombing every day.

The name of the Omani doctor topped the Omani social media platforms with many praises for his humanitarian stance.

The episode (3/6/2024) of the “Shabakat” program quoted some tweets and comments.

Hoda Ahmed says that she felt the fragility of her words and the fragility and futility of writing, when she saw the Omani doctor Ayman Al-Salmi “walking away, carrying his soul in his hands, through the darkness of war, not caring about the circumstances of the coming days, in a place being cut down by the scythes of death and hunger every minute and second.”

Hanaa wrote, “The Omani doctor, who belongs to his Arab and Islamic nation, is among the names that will not be forgotten by every honorable Arab who came forward, acted, and gave to his brothers in Gaza.”

Sama also believes that “Dr. Ayman Al-Salmit is an example of an Arab Muslim who teaches us that we can support Gaza not only through prayer.”

For his part, Ahmed tweeted, saying, “Dr. Ayman Al-Salmi was able to be carried over heads, and he sacrificed his life for the sake of humanity. We are proud of people like this and brag about them before the world.”

Speaking to Omani media, the doctor said, "I am very happy to be in Gaza, and I am sad because I saw them in this state. I am sad for their deaths, their injuries, and their hunger. What I did is a humanitarian duty, regardless of the individual's religion or orientation."

He said that some missiles fall next to the hospital where he works and shake it, noting that approximately 30,000 displaced people live in the hospital’s corridors.
