The current building of the Al-Qibli Mosque in Al-Aqsa Mosque dates back to the Umayyad era. It is a roofed building topped with a lead dome, and is located to the south of the mosque, facing the Qibla.

Al-Qibli Mosque is the main prayer hall in Al-Aqsa Mosque, where the Friday sermon is delivered and prayers are held. It is located opposite the Dome of the Rock from the southern side.

As for the builder of the mosque, he was Caliph Abdul Malik bin Marwan, and his son Al-Walid completed it between the years 86 and 96 AH (705 and 714 AD).

Over the centuries, the Al-Qibli Mosque was rebuilt and restored as a result of natural factors and earthquakes, and today it consists of 7 corridors, the largest of which is the middle one.

In recent years, Al-Qibli Mosque has turned into a point of confrontation with the occupation forces, which storm it during the month of Ramadan to expel those in seclusion from it, as they prevent worshipers from remaining there after the evening prayer.
