This year is Wang Yong’s tenth year of taking root in the express delivery industry, and his second year of performing his duties as a representative of the National People’s Congress. He has visited logistics companies and express delivery outlets many times for research.

"There are currently about 84 million workers in China's new employment form, engaged in online delivery, travel, transportation and other industries. How to protect the rights and interests of such a large group?" With the National Two Sessions in 2024 about to be held, Wang Yong said that he will continue Speak up for workers in the new employment situation and put forward suggestions such as "improving accident insurance for couriers".

Wang Yong said that with the rapid development of the e-commerce industry, couriers shuttle through the streets and alleys every day. The working environment is complex, the work is intensive, and they also face many potential risks.

"If there is no accident insurance, if a courier has a traffic accident on the way to deliver an order, the medical expenses will easily be tens of thousands of yuan (RMB, the same below), and it will also delay the normal work and affect the income." According to Wang Yong's idea, the courier's work and daily life Accidental injuries and property losses caused in life can be covered by medical expenses, disability compensation and death compensation according to specific circumstances.

It is currently the peak spring recruitment season, and many logistics and express companies are recruiting couriers in large numbers. Those with experience can earn tens of thousands of yuan a month.

"Although couriers are paid relatively well, they are subject to heavy labor intensity and not many can persist. Therefore, the express delivery industry has become one of the industries with a long-term shortage of workers, and some companies even face 'difficulty in recruiting' problem." Wang Yong said.

He hopes that logistics companies will reduce the daily working hours of couriers as appropriate, reduce labor intensity, and ensure adequate rest time for couriers.

Recently, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security issued the "Guidelines for the Protection of Labor and Remuneration Rights and Interests of Workers in the New Employment Form", "Guidelines for the Disclosure of Labor Rules for Workers in the New Employment Form" and "Service Guidelines for the Protection of the Rights and Interests of Workers in the New Employment Form".

During his research, Wang Yong learned that the above-mentioned new regulations have given many practitioners a "reassurance".

He said that during his term of office, he will continue to pay attention to the protection of workers' rights and interests in new employment forms and do his best to help the healthy development of related industries.
