Recently, Pudong police arrested two suspects who deliberately failed to scan product codes and committed theft.
Recently, the Zhoupu Police Station of the Pudong Public Security Bureau of the Shanghai Public Security Bureau received an alarm from a supermarket within its jurisdiction, saying that someone had stolen goods from the store.
After receiving the report, the police rushed to the scene and controlled the man Jiang on the spot.
It was learned that Jiang and his girlfriend Lu went into the store to purchase goods that day, and they took a total of more than 400 yuan worth of goods.
When checking out through the self-service code scanning machine, they pretended to pay and scanned the code but actually secretly missed scanning the QR code of some products. Their abnormal payment behavior aroused the alert of the staff, who called the police and arrested the two on the spot.
After an on-site investigation by the police, it was found that the two people first purchased a bunch of goods in the supermarket, and obviously deliberately failed to scan the QR code of the goods when checking out, thinking that they could hide the money from others and avoid paying the amount.
This behavior constitutes theft.
According to reports from supermarket staff, the two men had similar behaviors more than once, so the staff paid special attention to their abnormal behavior when they were checking out. As expected, they still did not restrain themselves.
Subsequently, the police took the two people back to the police station for further investigation.
After interrogation, Jiang and Lu confessed to their thefts. Because they found self-service checkout convenient, they pretended to scan codes many times to commit theft.
I thought this method would not be discovered, but I didn't expect that I would suffer the consequences.
During the investigation, the police reviewed all the public videos in the supermarket and found that the two had committed 8 thefts in a few months, involving a value of more than 4,000 yuan.
Currently, both Jiang and Lu are under criminal detention by Pudong police.
