  In September 2021, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council issued the "Overall Plan for the Construction of the Hengqin Guangdong-Macao Deep Cooperation Zone" which clarified that the implementation scope of the cooperation zone is the customs supervision area between the "first line" and the "second line" of Hengqin Island, among which Hengqin and The connection between the Macao Special Administrative Region and the People's Republic of China is set as the "first line"; the connection between Hengqin and other areas within the customs territory of the People's Republic of China is set as the "second line".

  According to reports, the "front line" first implements special tax policies. Passengers entering the country for the first time within 15 days, if the luggage items they carry are for personal use, are within a reasonable amount, and comply with relevant management regulations, they will not be exempted from tax unless clearly stipulated by national laws and administrative regulations. In addition, the customs will release it duty-free.

  Secondly, after the border closure, Macao residents who study, work, start a business, and live in the cooperation zone are allowed to carry a certain weight of cooked meat, packaged animal-derived milk and dairy products, cooked meat, and Seven categories of animal and plant products, including eggs and their products, fresh vegetables, fruits, edible fungi and various fresh-cut flower combinations, have entered the cooperation zone.

Vegetables, fruits, egg tarts, deli meats, etc. that Macao residents often eat in Macao can be brought into Hengqin.

This will greatly facilitate Macao residents to live and work in the Hengqin Cooperation Zone.
