The military and strategic expert, Major General Fayez Al-Duwairi, said that the announcements of the military spokesman for the Israeli occupation army, Daniel Hagari, about the number of casualties in the war battles in the Gaza Strip have no relation to reality, noting that a report extracted from the Israeli media revealed that the number of deaths reached about 16 thousand soldiers.

According to the latest announcements by the military spokesman, more than 240 Israeli soldiers have been killed, and more than 1,400 others have been injured since the start of the ground invasion of the Gaza Strip late last October, while Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper reported that the Army Chief of Staff is calling for the immediate recruitment of 14,500 officers and soldiers to reinforce its forces.

In a military analysis for Al Jazeera, Al-Duwairi indicated that he had recently seen a recent report derived from the Israeli media, which stated that the number of army deaths in Gaza reached 15,936 people of single nationality, while the number of dual nationals reached 1,320 Americans, 930 French, and 79 Britons. And 46 Italy.

The military analyst believes that the request of the Chief of Staff of the occupation army, Herzi Halevy, to immediately recruit 14,500 officers and soldiers makes the numbers revealed in the report logical. It is not logical to demand the recruitment of this number, while the number of army casualties does not exceed a few hundred dead.

Regarding the field situation, Al-Duwairi believes that the occupation army began to withdraw from the Al-Zaytoun neighborhood in Gaza City, due to its losses in the fierce battles with the resistance brigades, but this withdrawal came in the form of repositioning and deployment, and its forces left to the outskirts of the neighborhood after attempts to control it failed.

He added that the occupation army, after every failure similar to what happened with it in the Zaytoun neighborhood, commits massacres and widespread destruction with the aim of revenge, and what it did in the Zaytoun neighborhood was not the first of its kind, as it had previously carried out similar actions in previous confrontations in the sector.

Earlier today, the Israeli army announced that 5 officers and soldiers were injured in the Gaza battles during the past 24 hours, while Israeli platforms circulated news of heavy losses suffered by the occupation forces in an ambush in Khan Yunis, south of the Gaza Strip.
