The essentials of the day before

  • The Hamas health ministry has revised upwards the number of people killed after Israeli fire towards Palestinians rushing towards humanitarian aid trucks on al-Rashid Street, in the north of the territory threatened by famine.

    The new report shows 110 victims.

  • Israeli sources cited by AFP confirmed shootings on the crowd, but they rejected any responsibility for the heaviness of this toll, citing deaths linked to people trampled by the crowd.

  • According to an Israeli official cited by Reuters, initial indications are that the deaths were caused by delivery drivers who drove into the crowd.

  • The United States demanded that Israel provide “answers” ​​after this tragedy, with Washington citing a “desperate” situation in Gaza.

  • An emergency meeting of the UN Security Council behind closed doors was held in the evening to discuss the circumstances of this deadly incident.  

  • The Hamas Health Ministry announced that the death toll in the Gaza Strip was "more than 30,000" since the conflict with Israel began on October 7.
