During the search of the home of former RAF terrorist Daniela Klette, investigators also found weapons of war.

This was announced by the Lower Saxony State Criminal Police Office.

The seven-story building in Berlin-Kreuzberg was evacuated by the police on Wednesday evening.

Later, some residents of another house also had to leave their apartments.

The road was completely closed.

The closure was only lifted early Thursday morning.

During the search of Klette's apartment, explosives, ammunition parts in the form of a rocket-propelled grenade, various ammunition and firearms, including a so-called Kalashnikov, a submachine gun and a handgun with ammunition were found.

The former RAF terrorist Klette was arrested in Berlin-Kreuzberg on Monday evening.

She was in hiding for 30 years and is said to have lived in the capital for years under a false identity.

However, the name she is said to have used cannot be found on the doorbell at the entrance to the inconspicuous apartment building.

The Verden public prosecutor's office and the Lower Saxony State Criminal Police Office have been searching for Klette as well as the former RAF terrorists Burkhard Garweg, 55, and Ernst-Volker Staub, 69, for decades. The two wanted men have still not been caught.

Editor's note: An earlier version referred to "heavy weapons of war."

But they were not found in the apartment in Berlin.

We corrected the mistake.
