In Cameroon, after the elimination of the Indomitable Lions in the round of 16 of the last African Football Cup of Nations (CAN) in Ivory Coast, it is time to take stock.

President Paul Biya indicated on February 10 that he had given instructions to the government for a better organization of Cameroonian football for better results.

It is in this perspective that the president of Fecafoot, Samuel Eto'o, and the coach of the Indomitable Lions, Rigobert Song, were summoned this Tuesday, February 27 by the secretary general of the Prime Minister's services.

The two former internationals, now at the head of Cameroonian football, were not only to present the diagnosis of the performance of the Indomitable Lions at the last CAN, but also to propose actions to allow the national team to return to good results.

Song stop or again?

The results are undoubtedly not positive for a team from Cameroon, five times African champions, and which only won one meeting in Ivory Coast, against Gambia (3-2).

Samuel Eto'o had also

submitted his resignation

the day after the poor performance of the Indomitable Lions,

ingloriously eliminated by Nigeria

in the round of 16.

But when the current coach's contract ends on February 29, it would be surprising if Rigobert Song continued his adventure with the Cameroon national team, as the criticism has not stopped raining on the head of the former captain of the Indomitables.

The Cameroonian Football Federation (Fecafoot) did not wait for the end of Song's contract to begin prospecting and contacting coaches like the

Belgian Tom Saintfiet

.

In the meantime, former presidents of Fécafoot and former footballers will also appear before the commission set up by the government for the revival of Cameroonian football.

For some time now, the football teams have had poor results.

The latest is the non-qualification of the women's national team for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and for the next CAN in Morocco.
