A woman from Ennis, Ireland, claimed €760,383 in compensation from an insurance company after a car accident - and has now failed to win a Christmas tree throwing competition.

This was first reported by the Irish Independent newspaper.

She testified in court in Limerick that she had constant back pain after the accident in February 2017.

At that time, another driver had hit the vehicle she was traveling in with his car.

The health consequences made it impossible for her to work or play with her children.

The woman gave up her job and received disability pay, as the Guardian also reported.

Her lawsuit therefore related to the loss of past and future income.

»Thrown with a very agile movement«

Now the court dismissed the lawsuit.

A reason?

A photo that shows the plaintiff throwing a two-meter-high tree at a charity event in January 2018.

"It is a very large, natural Christmas tree that she throws with a very agile movement," said judge Carmel Stewart, according to the Irish Independent.

And further: "I'm afraid I can only come to the conclusion that the allegations are completely exaggerated."

The plaintiff, however, denied having faked the injuries.

She “tried to lead a normal life.”

Even though she looked happy in the photo, she was still in pain.

The court was unable to convince them.
