A teenager died in an accident at the train station in Schwerte (Unna district).

The boy climbed onto a train late Friday evening and was electrocuted, a police spokeswoman said on Saturday morning.

He died at the scene of the accident.

The police initially did not provide any further information about the accident.

As the spokeswoman said, the young person was traveling with two friends.

They therefore remained physically unharmed.

Warning signs on railway areas indicate that there is a danger to life in the vicinity of overhead lines, but accidents still occur again and again.

In January, a 15-year-old was injured in Hesse.

He climbed onto a parked freight train and got too close to the overhead line.
