Lindau on Lake Constance: “Increased risk situation”

A suspicious object led to a major police operation at Lindau train station on Friday.

The police said that in the afternoon a witness observed a driver getting out of his car at the train station on Lake Constance to attach a box-like object to a wall with adhesive tape.

He is then said to have photographed his surroundings and driven away again.

When the police found out about the suspect that he had already come to the police because of a similar incident in another federal state, it was assumed that there was an "increased risk situation," as the message continued.

The train station in Lindau is located on the island of the same name in Lake Constance, which is part of the city of Lindau.

The police cordoned off part of the island - the area around the train station - for several hours.

Specialists from the State Criminal Police Office in Munich then examined the container for possible explosives, initially using a robot.

After about an hour, they gave the all-clear: the box was probably an electronic recording device for working hours, according to the statement.

It was initially unclear why the man stuck it to the wall.

The investigation into this is ongoing.

The closure at the train station was lifted again in the evening.
