The so-called

Koldo case

is inevitably becoming the

Ábalos case

.

The news that is coming to light about the alleged corruption plot in the purchase of masks involving

Koldo García Izaguirre

brings his political godfather closer and closer.

Logic says that an advisor to a minister hardly makes decisions for himself;

His authority is none other than that which his superior confers upon him.

But what common sense dictates is joined by

new evidence that points directly to

nte to the personal intervention of Ábalos

, the man who at that time amassed enormous power in both the Government and the PSOE.

Judge Ismael Moreno focuses on the first contract of the Ministry of Transport, which opened the door of the Administration to the company under investigation, until then unknown, with no experience in the sector and with almost non-existent billing.

On March 20, 2020, Ábalos

signed a ministerial order

so that Puertos del Estado - a public company attached to the Ministry and of which Koldo García was a director - would buy eight million masks.

Just a few hours later, Puertos del Estado resolved that need by signing a contract with Soluciones de Gestión y Apoyo a Empresas SL for 20 million euros.

In his order, the judge maintains that this chronology "makes evident

a previous concert»

between the company and those responsible at the Ministry.

And he also perceives this agreement in the contracts subsequently signed with other companies dependent on Transport.

Furthermore, EL MUNDO has been able to verify that this first acquisition did not go through the Ports Governing Council and that it was planned at the top of the department of Ábalos.

Two sources from the Ports leadership assure that the minister "forced" them to execute that award.

The importance of this contract is key, as it was the first in a long list

which included the Ministry of the Interior of Fernando Grande-Marlaska and the socialist governments of the Balearic Islands - chaired by Francina Armengol, current president of Congress - and the Canary Islands - in the hands of the current minister Ángel Víctor Torres.

Altogether, the plot earned more than 52 million euros.

The Government is trying to isolate itself from the scandal and that is why it has changed its position on Ábalos in recent hours, even publicly pressuring him to leave his position as deputy.

But

This alleged corrupt plot shakes the heart of the Government and the party

, because the Valencian politician was everything in both.

Ábalos led the ministry with more muscle to distribute public funds among companies and, by decision of Pedro Sánchez, he led the PSOE Organization, that is, the apparatus.

And now all the roads traveled by the man who kept his secrets lead to him.
